With the Birdy AXS 12 speed completed, I can ride it around to many different places, and take some nice pictures. Here are some of the pictures with the fully upgraded Birdy folding bike with 20" 406 wheels. Compare this to the pictures that I took with the stock Birdy City bike.
Simple but attractive dual colour scheme, with a Sky Blue frame colour and all black components.
Long ago, I had the Dahon Boardwalk with lots of gold bling on it.
Check out the full suspension system and the Ascent Cirrus Elite carbon wheelset (20" 406 wheels).
Wide angle shot of the Birdy at Bukit Batok Nature Park
Super clean looking wireless shifting setup.
Panaracer Minits Lite tires for low rolling resistance, and XTR hydraulic brake calipers for powerful braking.
At Little Guilin, which is located at Bukit Gombak.
I like the clean setup of the bike, with only hydraulic hoses visible at the front.
At Pandan Reservoir! Red bike on the left is the Bestrider Pump Pro 16, a 3 speed kids bike.
All black components ensure that the Sky Blue frameset can really stand out.
I like the deisgn of the hydroformed main frame with the curves and profile lines.
Pretty much the best drivetrain you can get. Upgrading to SRAM Red and Shimano Dura-Ace will save a bit of weight but not improve the performance any more.
The XTR brake caliper will match better if it was gloss black instead of silver.
Still using the stock front suspension, as it is lightweight and simple. Wonder if I can feel the difference if I change to an aftermarket suspension...
I am very happy with this Birdy folding bike modification project, as I have learnt a lot about upgrading Birdy folding bikes. There are some quirks to the bike, but that is what gives the bike its unique character. For example, the Brompton uses many proprietary components and has some unusual designs, but that is what makes a Brompton unique.
